takbo.ph 2008 eb
Yesterday was a scheduled 10Miler for me and it couldn’t be any better than running with the takbo.ph peeps in UP Diliman campus. I arrived there at the Oblation Statue so early at 4:45AM and I think I saw some ghosts and white ladies but the temperature was too cold for me that the ladies’ presence didn’t really bother me. Then Shocks, Ronald, Jinoe and Queenie came and we started running at 6:01AM, just after the race started.
I ran alongside with the site Owner/Admin Jinoe “Manokan Runner” and his sidekick Queenie “Chicks ni Manok” who had nicknames that speak for themselves. The “Holf” Ronald and “Shocks_5″ ran ahead of us and they were smart to carry hydration backpacks and belts with them. Oh, by the way the UP campus was probably designed for running rather than studying. I can imagine being a student here and being late for my class that I have to run to my classroom. It had the perfect running course for the UP-ICTUS Centennial run, (but I’ve heard the race wasn’t so perfect). Jinoe, Queenie and I chatted in our hiligaynon (ilonngo, not bisaya) dialect and I guess I’m still fluent in speaking ilonggo. We ran at a very easy pace that was off the charts of most training manuals. We ran for 10Miles, but chatting with them made the long run feel easier than most of my daily 6.4Miles.
Afterwards, we had some photoshoot of the takbo.ph peeps and ate free taho thanks to sheerwill. I also received some valuable information about running the marathon from RunUnlimited. I hope to run as fast as he can someday. First thing’s first, build up that 50MPW mileage.
I’ve met a lot of runners that day, so I’ll just mention a few of them: Ronald, Queenie, Jinoe, zixedatz, Shocks_5, OC aka Lauren’s Bro, Rico aka Sheerwill, Quennie, Vener aka Run Unlimited, Lauren, Infinity, Sean William, ChrisMadrigal, Dhenztm, Rene, Carly, and Cathletic. It was also Ronald’s 28th birthday so he treated us for Brunch, which helped our muscles recover from the LSD.
In conclusion, running can be a lonely boring daily activity. To keep one’s sanity, one may need to join forces with other runners who share the same passion – chatting. However, conversations must be kept at an easy “LSD” pace or one may suffer glycogen depletion early in the run.
LSD tough guys: Ronald, Jinoe, Zixednatz, and Shocks_5

Ibang level ka na talaga, Natz. May Garmin ka na, may blog ka pa. What’s next i2runner?
Sir Rico, kakainggit kasi kayong lahat, puro merong blog. So gaya-gaya lang ako. hehehe…
So this is Z, welcome to the blogosphere. You can skip writing, wag lang running. See you again on the races.
Sir Vener, it was nice meeting you in person. Thanks for the tips on marathon training and racing. Your experience in running is very inspiring. Just imagine, you were running 25mins 5K’s and then after a year improved to 18mins. Then there’s your threesome marathons, getting faster and stronger at each race. It’s incredible how much you’ve improved on your 2nd year of running. That’s the results I’m hoping to achieve (or just barely) this coming 2009.
About writing and running…. I can’t blog any lesser ‘coz I’m just starting…
welcome pala to the blogging community! more races and PRs to come in 2009.
