Kenny Rogers' Urbanite RUN – August 15, 2009
Kenny’s Urbanite RUN – 5K, 10K, and 15K August 15, 2009

I’m still currently recovering from my last Marathon race and also nursing a minor ITBS injury. Last week I also ran 10K of GLOBE’s run for home and got a time of 1hour 18minutes. Well Ok I admit, I only ran 5kms and walked the rest of the way back because of the painful ITBS. The week before that I could only jog/walk for 2miles. Then yesterday I ran 2miles continuously. Now I could run more than 3miles. So, I am definitely getting better, but have been eating a lot also. I think I already gained 2 to 3lbs of body fat.
3weeks from now I plan to join the race that is getting a lot of attention lately, the Kenny Rogers’ Urbanite RUN. If my ITBS would be gone by that time, I’ll try to race the 5K and hope to beat my 22minute PR. If not, I’ll try to finish within 44minutes. They’ll include the ChampionChip so I better make a respectable time this time, unlike my 10K in the GLOBE run. This would be a night run, where our muscles strength are normally at their peak, so I’m expecting a lot of new PR’s from a lot of runner. A lot of my newbie office-mate runners are already getting excited. Some of them (the girls) are actually just excited to eat the food after the race!
I believe the man who first conceptualized a run like this was my friend Doc Lyndon Cosico, but you’ll never see his name in the ads. He has been dreaming about a run like this since December2008. So good luck Doc Lyndon! Looks like your dream is really coming true!
